Questions people ask

How do I convert Markdown to HTML?

Paste or type your Markdown on the left and the HTML appears on the right instantly. Copy it or save it as an .html file. The Preview tab shows how the result will look in a browser.

Which Markdown syntax is supported?

Everything in standard Markdown: headings, bold and italic, links, images, lists, nested lists, block quotes, code blocks, horizontal rules and reference links. With GitHub extras on you also get tables, task lists, strikethrough and automatic links.

Is it safe to paste Markdown I did not write?

Yes. By default any raw HTML inside the Markdown is escaped, javascript: links are neutralised, and the preview runs in a sandbox that cannot run scripts. Turn on “Allow raw HTML” only when you trust the source.

What does “Wrap as a full HTML page” do?

It adds the doctype, head, title and body tags so you get a complete page you can save and open. The title is taken from the first heading. “Include basic page styles” adds a small readable stylesheet.

How are line breaks handled?

As in standard Markdown, a single line break inside a paragraph is treated as a space. End a line with two spaces or a backslash, or switch on the line-break option, to get a <br> tag.

Is my Markdown uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion happens in your browser, so your text is never sent to a server.
